Privacy Policy

Polyglot is a language learning application operated by Polyglot HQ ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at joshua.p.kennedy@gmail.com.

We collect the following information when you use Polyglot:

• Your email address and username, used to create and identify your account.
• Your chosen study and native languages and learning preferences.
• Session data: words studied, answers given, scores, and session history.
• Payment information processed securely by Stripe. We do not store card details.
• Device and usage information for improving the app (e.g. platform, app version).

We use your data to:

• Provide and personalise the Polyglot learning experience.
• Track your progress, streaks, and mastery across sessions.
• Process payments and manage your subscription.
• Send important service communications (e.g. password reset, billing).
• Improve and debug the application.

We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL) hosted on AWS infrastructure in the EU. Authentication is handled by Clerk. We apply industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls.

Polyglot uses the following third-party services:

• Clerk — authentication and account management
• Supabase — database and storage
• Stripe — payment processing
• OpenAI — sentence generation and error classification

Each provider has their own privacy policy governing their use of data.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Export your data in a portable format.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed within 30 days. Anonymised usage data may be retained for analytics purposes.

Polyglot is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notice. Continued use of Polyglot after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
